We have been getting LOADS of questions since we started offering dermaplaning facials, so we are bringing you this blog post to explain exactly what dermaplaning is, and why you need to have one!
A dermaplaning facial immediately rejuvenates your skin by removing the outermost layer of dead skin cells and hair. Have you ever wondered how celebrities achieve flawless skin, and perfect makeup application? It’s more than likely dermaplaning. Removing those baby hairs means your makeup looks airbrushed.
Dermaplaning is also highly effective at minimising the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, and acne scars – leaving your skin feeling silky smooth and looking vibrant!
This treatment is a great preparation before skin peels, and it also helps to increase the effectiveness of any active ingredients in your skincare products that you use at home, as it allows the key ingredients to penetrate your skin into the deeper layers, where it is needed most.
Here are some of the most frequent questions we get asked:
What is the difference between dermaplaning and microdermabrasion?
Both are a physical exfoliation treatment, but they are done in different ways. Dermaplaning removes more dead skin than microdermabrasion, and it is arguably less harsh on skin, as well as being safer for some clients who have weaker skin, such as those who suffer from spider veins or sensitive skin types.
Will my hair grow back thicker or darker?
No! This must be the biggest misconception about dermaplaning – it is not the same as shaving your face and your fine facial hairs (sometimes referred to as “peach fuzz”) will not grow back thicker or darker. We work with the outermost layer of your skin, therefore the hair follicle is not affected.
How long do the results last?
The results can last anything from 3 to 6 weeks depending on the speed your hair grows at.
How much does the treatment cost?
Dermaplaning costs £80, and includes an enzyme peel. We also offer extra services, such as milia removal (stubborn white heads), which are usually found around the eye area. This is an additional £10.
